Red Beans

Red beans are a legume highly prized for their vibrant color and intense flavor. They are a versatile ingredient that lends itself to many traditional and modern recipes, offering significant nutritional benefits.

Organoleptic characteristics:

Red beans are round or slightly oval in shape, with smooth skin and a bright red color, sometimes with darker or slightly purple hues. They are firm and compact to the touch before cooking. Their flavor is bold, slightly sweet and nutty, with a creamy, velvety texture once cooked. On the palate, they are soft yet firm, perfect for rich, flavorful dishes.

How they are used in cooking:

To use red beans, it's best to soak them in cold water for at least 8-12 hours, preferably overnight, to soften them and reduce cooking time. After soaking, rinse them well and cook them in boiling water until tender, usually about 1-2 hours.

Red beans are ideal for soups, stews, hot or cold salads, and main courses like chili con carne or Mexican dishes. They also lend themselves to preparations like purees or as an accompaniment to meat and fish dishes. Their intense flavor makes them perfect for savory and flavorful recipes, bringing color and nutrition to your table.
